Courteously naive
The post modern side of the nation is definitely not a nice place to live in. In fact, there is much doubt in my mind as to whether the nation has even entered into a modern state before it went post modern. As if it just skipped a step and hoped the people would follow suit. Certainly, an action of this nature is a ridicule to the developement process. I believe that it would fall nicely into the category of desperation. Perhaps, only those special people are able to see the excellence in this course of action. Perhaps, we are all just stupid, mindless people that just follow those few geniuses that sit on top of their high mountain where the wind has gotten their heads.
Politeness is a virtue in these lands. No, it is a gift from god that only those few people have. It is bestowed onto them to promote the nation to use this gift to good use, especially to those foreigners. It is perceiveable that one can witness this act of kindness mostly at tourist attractions. One would wonder as to how this practice came along with such a distinction of social status of an individual. For all that counts in being courteous, the people can't practice it with family and friends but choose to instill a perception to the foriegners that the nation is proud of the politeness to tourists. Focus on the word tourists because that is all the politeness that a local can bring forward. Try to perceive the fact that most people practice situational ethics. No, let's make it more direct. Let's rephrase that term and make it a more accurate one - situational politeness.
I've come to ponder about this situational politeness issue and found that it is not that bad. However, there is a very clear distinction as to what situations most people are practicing courteous behaviour. Through observations, personal experience and also tales told by friends in the community, the most likely drive to courteous behaviour would be money.
Yes, you're not experiencing and eyesight problems unless you did not read the last word of the previous paragraph as "money". Money, money and money. It all comes back to the highly sophisticated mindsets of the people. There is barely any value for any intellectual property, literature or anything that preserves the idea of aesthetic living and moral values within the thriving society that is bitterly calculative over money matters. In ways, the responsibility of the people has come to creating a good image for outsiders but rotting to the core from the inside.
Oh, how polite are we...
