Parody 102
Right, right..right...now get this...
The case of Posthumanism (not transhumanism)
Firstly, what are ethics? According to some source, ethics means something that you comprehend and deliberate at the time and place because you know about it and comprehend it.
Hmm...then what is a posthuman? A posthuman is someone said to have evolved sooo much that he/she (wait, is there even a sex difference?) is somehow the ultimate being resulting of evolution of technological intervention.
Actually, is that possible? To become the ultimate being through evolution or technological intervention? Firstly, evolution is a natural process (so we are brough to believe :D). So, we evolve because...well, we don't know. All we know is that it HAPPENS every few...what, million years? Hmm, i think i've got that number wrong already. Or maybe they were talking about mini-evolution?
You know, mini evolution would explain:
1)Why some dinosours became monkeys.
2)Why some the aligators stayed aligators (because they like water, duh!).
3)Why some people "evolve" into dumb blondes (no offence to dumb blondes :P, you're just an unfortunate example!).
4)Why there are cockroaches (Actually, why are they here?).
5)The existence of BUSH! :D
So, posthuman...what is a posthuman.
Let's list down some possible characteristics:
1) Ultimate being...
2) Ultimate being...
3) Ultimate being...
Okay crap, what is an "Ultimate being"? How do you define something like that? Is it a human, or is it a it? Because, hmm...
An ultimate being is:
1) The best of everything.
2) The ultimatum of everything.
3) The...
I think there's a problem here. The best of everything. Hmm..everything like...featherweight? Or heavyweight? And, there are supposed to be around 1.2 zillion of these "things" running around the earth after evolution and technology done its job? Hmm...you know it's kind of counter-intuitive. Merging evolution with technology. It's like merging something natural and..natural. Like those people who go for plastic surgery, they end up like some freakos that people indentify with as: "Gasp! Are those REAL?"
Just look how the white man born black and then turned white again, ended up.
So I still can't figure out what is the "Ultimate being" supposed to be. A posthuman...let's say it's immortal. And, it's sooo full of morals that it's...actually what would ethics be like when you're immortal? Everything just doesn't apply anymore.
Let's see. Now i'm getting an idea. Characteristics of a posthuman:
1) DOn't need to eat.
2) Perfect immune system.
3) Cannot die.
4) Don't need to sleep.
5) Bored to death (but not dead).
Oh...that last part is just so ironic. You are born into "death" because in the end, you can't die, don't need to eat, don't need to sleep. Wow, i see a moron in the making. So we'll all end up morons in the future? Now that's a very great prospect. How will our life be?
Hmm...come to think about it, all we do in life, is to get what we dream of, something we can't never get our hands on (but of course we still pursue it like friggin dumbasses). So, what can't a posthuman who is immortal, don't need to eat or drink or..breath (coz he's a living dead piece of not-rotting meat) do? Hmm...oh, the one thing that he can't ever get - try to die.
Imagine spending you whole....erm...actually there is no whole existence anymore...it's continuous existence trying to die. Imagine Harry Potter and the 1000 suicides. What a book that would be. But if you can't die, we'd seriously be damned the day we were born. Darn, no afterlife, no way to escape from all this suffering on earth. How ironic, right now as humans, we suffer due to fear of death; but as posthumans, we suffer due to yearning of death. Wow. What a values system that would be. Imagine Shakespear's sonnets being rewritten to portray death that never would come.
How would sonnet 18 go then? hehe, instead of juliet, i'd bet it would be Shakespear trying to enchant the grim reaper to coming to earth and taking his "immortality" away. Lol, now that's absurd.
So, posthumanism, would you want to be a posthuman? But that's just one theory and viewpoint, how about all those other things? But posthumanism is derived from transhumanism. Transhumanism is something like trying to use technology to intervene for human enhancement. Hmm...in the end we'd become posthuman, that's when it all gets boring. Darn, so the fun will only be for those in the race to achieve that final evolution. But will that even come? It's like a cycle. You'll never get everything you want, unless you take away that "want" or "lust" or "need" or "whatever-you-want-to-call-that-freaking-dream-of-yours". It's like crazy. I mean, with no needs and wants, what's life? Life would be like death. Death would be life. Wow, how "nice". There's no more in between, no more opposites. So why are we alive anyway? We just get born to... to.. a nothing? Wooo hoooooo....
But there's still hope. There's still Homer Simpson...
