Living on the edge
...of reality and the fine line between normal and abnormal. A nutcase would have a field day trying to study the meanings of abnormal. Just because he is a nut case and because he thinks that it is perfectly normal to be abnormal and thus would see it as normal, while we still see it as abnormal. Why?
Is it perfectly fine to see abnormal stuff? Of course it is, it's part of life, isn't it? So live with it. Oh, but there has to be some form of control to it. Why? Hmm...that is, if you define abnormal as including things which may bring harm to society. Of which, i think it's true that there is a general consensus that abnormality does threaten the hegemony of societal forms. Who brought on the sense of harm in abnormality? Is it just because of our stigma? Or is it just an aggravated form of trying to maintain the society as it is? Because, all our lives, we have been living according to one pretext, and if we change it, we lose the whole future we had perfectly planned out.
But the case it, changes happen all the time, and abnormalities which are "accepted" occur to change the course of the future. Then isn't it just a form of discrimination that medically or socially "abnormal" but not "acceptable" forms are being persecuted and put down for what they truly are? A sense of self expression brings about a boundless amount of possible extrapolations. This type of infinitum may result in the increase of threatening possibilities towards society. It's known through stories of tyrants like Hitler, that those in power cause much problems (at least if they are not democratic). Is abnormality a form of tyranny? I believe it no so. But why is it dealt with in such a manner by society?
Society grows to hate, despise and try to get rid of abnormality. Perhaps this is changing, because it was the old modernist view which decided to maintain order through laws and conformity. But post-modernist views have changed perceptions of abnormality totally. Each person's individual characteristics are more acceptable in society. However, this clash between traditional and more modern day views brings together pieces of a puzzle that is yet to be solved. Why does the society choose to become such a way? Was it due to economic forces? That invisible hand? Or because of the freedom of speech? The ways of anarchy in media? Or is it because of a reaction towards the suppression from the government on issues? Or the start of a revolution of style? Being socially acceptable has become so important that people orientate their whole lives against the norms and acceptable items. They are more cautious to see which situation they can balance in and which things of themselves must be thrown out the door. But isn't that a type of collective thinking, with variations of self-expression?
No, abnormality is just another issue created by the modern day monarchs of money. You need categories to make money, because if there is present category, there are no presenting problems/issues to be solved. Perhaps creating things to be solved caused problems to be reinforced by their own meaning? If one person told you he was sick, and he said it wasn't a very big deal, you'd just wait for him to recover and perhaps guide him through and help him a bit. If he said he was terminally ill, you'll guide him most of the way and pray very, very hard that he'd get well. If he is ill, and he doesn't wish to get better, now that's a problem. How do you cure that type of person? The type that needs to be ill and wants to be ill? Maybe society has created a new form of existence for it's inhabitants. A new person who embodies the "problem", the person to put all the blame on, to place all attention on the sick and bedridden. Perhaps the problem is really with society and how they treat these people. Sickness is a complex thing, but it is not a permanent thing. Sickness can be cured. The sickness of the mind is just the person's inability to contain/control his/her processes that occur within life. Once you lose control, you let of reality and purportedly face a new reality of your own. You wish to do things which have nothing to do with others at all, but instead are living inside your own world. You live only to exist for yourself, and that is a wrong. A person without space for other people would mean you are a void inside a community. This void sucks on others, making them weaker, maiming them slowly but surely. This process brings harm, does it? It's a nut shell which others try to break. But their misunderstanding of it just channels more grief and anger towards the sick, and this makes the sick become filled with even more negative elements. You doom yourself by inciting doom in another. Both shall not reconcile unless doom is eradicated, leaving two conclusions: a safe haven, or a hellbent destruction.
Give or take. We all live in abnormalities. It's just those unlucky ones who get the brunt of our blame, eh?

As mentioned by you a few days ago, you did not go for the AA101 quiz (just like you planned earlier~)!
WOAH.
I admire your guts.
Now, have you written the 700-word essay in replacement already??? ;)
P.S. I do believe that we all live in abnormalities. It just makes the world a lil more "normal".
