When doulos goes emo (if there is such a word in his dictionary) :P
I'll tell you a story about our dear Doulos...
He's so funny, that he doesn't understand jokes. He once made a joke, when he was explaining postmodernism to me on msn. But, he didn't even get it! This is how it goes:
"If you read a lot of the essays and text, you will see a lot of deconstruction in it" (Dolous, 2007)
He was trying to explain the relation between structuralism and constructionism. = =
Though that is just the tip of the iceberg. He went emo over a post on scienceblogs about postmodernism. Hmm, let me rephrase. The post was not about postmodernism, but it was about a certain professor kind of trashing postmodernism. Doulos advocates postmodernism, a he took it too personally. =P (I know you're reading this Doulos, but it's true! Don't deny it!)
In the post, the author stated:
1) I'm not an advocate of postmodernism.
2) I don't understand much of postmodernism.
And, he just went through a situation, when a postmodernist advocate had just slammed the "big bang theory" in his face. The humanist has said something like this: "All that you say, is just a projection of the judo-christian culture that you come from. The big bang theory, is just there because your culture thinks that there must be some beginning. So the theory is just crap."
Mind you, this is third hand information, so it's not the original text, but it is surely what the humanist implied to this infuriated anti-postmodernist that wrote the post. After being attacked by those ruddy words that the humanist said, he tried to explain that it was due to mathematical equations and proven theories and sightings like the formations of new solar systems that held some proof for the big bang theory, and that the previous theory that the universe was a constant mass was replaced by it.
This was what the humanist replied (something like it):"Scrap the big bang theory, i like that one better [the universe as a constant mass theory]."
So the author, infuriated, became an anti-postmodernist and he commented that: "Let's just face one fact on postmodernism: it's crap."
Then Doulos nudge me on msn, that fine afternoon, and kept defending postmodernism, while i wasn't even attacking it = =...
I asked him why and he said that science is just so screwed up.
Science is made by humans. Is anything (that's made by humans) not screwed up?
